From May 19 to 23, Turin experienced an extraordinary week focused on innovation, international cooperation, and strategic dialogue, consolidating its role as the European Capital of Innovation 2024–25. A packed agenda of events involved local actors and European partners, strengthening the city’s positioning as a center of excellence within the innovation ecosystem.
The week opened with a new session of the I-Capital Talent Steering Committee, dedicated to co-designing the strategy to attract, enhance, and retain national and international talents. With the support of facilitators from ITCILO and the active contribution of local stakeholders, new tools and services emerged to make Turin a true “smart destination” for human capital.
Following this, the city welcomed the delegation from EIT Urban Mobility, engaged in two intense days of discussions with institutions, companies, startups, and innovation stakeholders from Turin. The focus of the dialogue was sustainable mobility, European funding opportunities, and synergies between public and private actors. It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships with one of the main partners of urban innovation in Europe.
At the same time, CTE Next participated in SMAU Stockholm, the third stop of the European roadshow after London and Paris. With the support of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Turin presented itself as an innovation lab, promoting its technological ecosystem and the opportunities offered by the House of Emerging Technologies, through pitches, meetings, and dialogues with the international ecosystem.
The highlight of the week was the visit to Turin by Michiel Scheffer, President of the European Innovation Council, welcomed at CTE NEXT. Two days immersed in the local ecosystem, among deep tech, research centers, universities, accelerators, and investors. A constructive dialogue that strengthened the connection with the EIC and sparked new prospects for the future of innovation in Turin.
An intense week, marked by international relations, strategic visions, and concrete opportunities. With these initiatives, Turin confirms its commitment to building an increasingly connected, innovative, and inclusive ecosystem worthy of its title as European Capital of Innovation.
