Ci2 – Cibi Circolari

Project by Consorzio Kairos S.C.S. Onlus

Description: Ci2 – Cibi Circolari is an experiment that launches a series of experiences at Cascina Falchera, aimed at creating a shorter supply chain of fresh and processed agricultural products, actively involving communities throughout the entire lifecycle of the products created.

The project will involve the co-design and implementation of circular experiences such as: foraging (the practice of searching for edible wild herbs and berries); a transformation workshop to add value to the surplus vegetables produced in the urban gardens of Falchera and the internal garden of Cascina; the production of eggs and ancient wheat from Mulino Val Susa to create a line of ‘Falchera cakes and sweets’ using these two ingredients; the expansion of beehives and honey production; and a snail farming facility (heliciculture).

Context: Ci2 – Cibi Circolari is one of the winning proposals of the City of Turin Public Notice on the topic of Circular Food. The aim is to find organisations with which to co-develop and test, under real conditions, innovative solutions in the context of the circular economy linked to production, distribution and marketing of food.

This activity is planned in two European projects: FUSILLI, which aims to promote innovative circular business models in the food sector, and SME4GREEN, which supports companies in transitioning to technologically and environmentally-sustainable business models. The current challenge of the circular economy applied to food is to revolutionize the production model starting with proper management of natural capital (that is linked to human, cultural and economic capital), respecting planetary boundaries and offering equitable space within civil society.
