Description: The experimental proposal Food Reborn utilizes the digital application ‘CommunityCoin,’ which integrates the functioning of a digital currency with social purposes, through which unsold products subject to waste regain value.

Food Reborn offers a complementary system of action and education for responsible consumption and the fight against food waste. Through the digital application CommunityCoin, food is transformed and integrated into meals at the Qucina in the Casa del Quartiere of San Salvario, and the corresponding value is converted into meals that people in situations of social and food vulnerability can consume at the same Qucina.

Context: Food Reborn is one of the winning proposals of the City of Turin Public Notice on the topic of Circular Food. The aim is to find organisations with which to co-develop and test, under real conditions, innovative solutions in the context of the circular economy linked to production, distribution and marketing of food.

This activity is planned in two European projects: FUSILLI, which aims to promote innovative circular business models in the food sector, and SME4GREEN, which supports companies in transitioning to technologically and environmentally-sustainable business models.
